Yosemite Falls is on our agenda today. Part of the magic of Yosemite Park is the many waterfalls that cascade off the sheer granite walls and plunge thousands of feet. The park has the highest waterfalls in the country. Yosemite Falls is the tallest. Its also fifth tallest in the world. A rock shelf midway down divides it into two major waterfalls. Like yesterday we are going to climb up to the top. Unfortunately our legs are sore from yesterday and a portion of the trail is sand that is difficult to hike. After hiking to a vantage point at the bottom of the Upper Yosemite Falls, we eat lunch, take a couple photos and decide to turn back. Apparently we have come at a good time of the year. An interpretative sign near the bottom says all these falls are snowmelt fed. They are at their peak in Spring and completely dry up by late Summer.
